Assignment 6
(10 points) Powerpoint
Project – Concerted Masses
A. Create a “Concerted Mass Powerpoint Presentation.”
-
Choose one composer from the following list:
-
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
-
Franz Joseph Haydn
-
Franz Schubert
-
Joseph Rheinberger
-
Isabella Leonarda (Warning! - hard to find material)
-
Anton Bruckner
-
-
Create a Powerpoint presentation about your selected composer.
-
The presentation must have the following information:
-
an introductory definition of the Concerted Mass;
-
a short biography of the selected composer;
-
a listing of the concerted Masses of the selected composer;
-
a description of one of the composer's concerted Masses that helps the viewer understand the nature of the work and how it expresses the concerted Mass genre generally, in addition to any particularly unique features of the Mass.
-
one or more audio files to accompany the description.
-
-
Other possible features of the presentation might include
-
maps showing the area where the composer lived and worked;
-
musical examples;
-
picture(s) of the composer and/or important churches where the composer worked;
-
other pictures to help illuminate the presentation.
-
-
Remember that the presentation will run, or be viewed, without your presence to narrate it, so you will have to design it accordingly, either with texts, pop-ups, audio narrative, or some other means. It must be completely self-contained, so that a viewer will learn about your composer just by what is seen and heard on the Powerpoint presentation.
-
The end of the project must have a slide showing the sources of materials for the presentation.
-
The general approach to the project is that you are creating a presentation to teach the concept of the concerted Mass and using the music of one specific composer to demonstrate the genre.
-
The project will be evaluated on both content, and organization, clarity and coherence. Feedback on all these areas will be given within one week of the project’s submittal. The rubric for grading this paper follows:

Content |
Does the project contain the required content? Are materials properly referenced? (You cannot use footnotes, etc. in a Powerpoint effectively, but there should be a reference slide at the end documenting sources.)
