A. Write a paper outlining the development of the chant restoration movement from its beginnings at Solesmes in 1833 to the Second Vatican Council.
B. Divide the paper into the following historical eras:

The work of the monks of Solesmes from 1833-ca. 1896
-
The controversies from the late nineteenth century through the reforms of Pope Pius X, roughly 1890’s – 1911
-
The implementation of Pope Pius X’s reforms from 1911 – 1950’s
-
The controversies immediately prior to the Second Vatican Council – 1950’s – 1962.
C. Each section of the paper should be 500-600 words. Thus, the entire paper will total 2,000-2400 words.
