motu proprio
THIS WILL BE A "LIVE" EVENT, HELD AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER. IT WILL BE THE ONE TIME, THE CLASS COMES TOGETHER "IN PERSON" OFFICIALLY. DATE WILL BE SET DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF THE SEMESTER.
A. Select one of the following topics for a debate:

§ “Pope Benedict’s motu proprio ‘Summorum pontificum’ (07 July 2007, - liberalizes the use of the Tridentine Mass) is bad for the Church, undoing the advances of the Vatican II reforms.”

§ “Popular music in worship is counter to goal of faith formation.”

§ “The Mass was non-participatory until the novus ordo Mass following the Second Vatican Council.
B. Vote for your selection on the Facebook wall: (SITE TO BE DETERMINED) The topic with the largest number of votes will be the topic debated. Half of the group will be assigned to argue for the statement, half against. (Your assigned position may not necessarily be your true personal position.)
C. Prepare for the debate with three major points you wish to make.
D. The debate will be held in a place to be determined. You will make your major points, and counter the points of others. At the determined end of the debate, you will be given one last statement.
E. One team will be judged the winner, with an appropriate prize. (Winning or losing, however, will not affect the grade. The grade will be determined on the thoroughness of your research and the effectiveness of your individual arguments.)
